What is microblading?
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing. The procedure is done by hand with very fine needles to mimic actual hair strokes. Unlike traditional tattooing, microblading lasts 1-3 years because pigment is only deposited into the top layers of the skin.
Does microblading hurt?
The area will be numbed before as well as throughout the procedure. Pain varies from client to client but most say they only feel pressure and the pain is comparable to having your brows tweezed.
How long does the procedure take?
Appointments are approximately 2 hours in length. The majority of this time is spent mapping out your perfect brow shape, numbing the area, and customizing your semi-permanent brow color. Microblading requires at least two sessions; your initial appointment and a follow up within 6 weeks to perfect your brows. Depending on skin type, some clients may even benefit from a third session.
Am I a candidate for microblading?
As with all tattoing, you must be at least 18 years of age. There are also several contraindications for this procedure.
You cannot get microblading if:
-you have cancer or are in recovery
-you have heart problems
-you have a bleeding disorder; those on blood thinners should discontinue use for a full 72 hours before the procedure
-you are pregnant or breastfeeding
-you have used Accutane (or a similar medication) in the last 6 months
-you are on Retin-A or Retinols (discontinue use 7 days prior to procedure and avoid for 30 days after)
-you’ve had Botox (or a similar product) within the last 3 weeks
-you have any kind of skin irritation (sunburn, blemishes, eczema, etc.) on the area of procedure
-you have a history of keloid scarring
-you are currently sick (please let us know and we’ll be happy to reschedule you)
If you have a previous brow tattoo, please contact us. A consultation may be required.
What can I expect at my appointment?
First, we will apply a topical numbing agent to ensure the procedure is painless. After this, we will discuss your desired brow shape and help you select your perfect brow color. Your brows will be completely measured out and adjustments will be made until you are 100% confident in the shape. There will be no surprises in this procedure; you will confirm everything before we begin.
Once we’ve numbed you and decided on the brow shape, we will create tiny cuts into the skin and deposit your custom pigment color. We will make 2 or 3 passes throughout the brows and we will also continue to apply a numbing agent, as needed.
Although there is no downtime, and most clients do not even experience any redness or swelling, it is best to avoid this procedure within a few months of important events such as weddings. You need to allow your skin proper healing time to achieve your desired brow look.
What will my brows look like after microblading?
Healed results will vary depending on a variety of factors including your skin type and your typical amount of sun exposure. For oily skin, the pigment may spread slightly and result in a more powder-filled brow look. Since microblading is semi-permanent, your brows will gradually fade. Frequent sun exposure and/or tanning will cause your tattoo to fade much quicker.
After your first appointment, your brows will gradually appear darker. Then the skin will begin to peel and the tattoo will appear much lighter. Please be patient as it takes a full 4-6 weeks for your skin to regenerate and you will not see your final result until you are completely healed.

aftercare
Clients tend to have the best results with the “Do Nothing” method. Immediately following your appointment, avoid getting the brow area wet for 5 days. Cleanse your face around your brows avoid hot water and steam.
Avoid any rubbing or picking and do not apply any type of makeup to the area for a minimum of 14 days. If the area becomes too dry and itchy, you may apply a small amount of BW Magik Oil. In order to achieve the best results for your skin type, it is important to let your skin breathe. The less product you put on your brows throughout the healing process, the better.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
